What's happening in the garden in July: Beat the heat
Now that you have put all of that hard work into planting your garden, here is what to do to keep things looking fresh all summer:
    • Watch how much water your plants need as we go through the summer
    • Continue to spray for black spot and powdery mildew on roses. Spray with Rose Rx 3 in 1 from Bonide every two weeks to prevent those diseases
    • Switch to Infuse systemic from Bonide if black spot is already present on your plants
    • Continue to prune the faded flowers from your rose bushes
    • Now is the time to apply a summer fertilizer to your lawn. This can be one with or without insect control. Whichever one you use, make sure it is watered in well after applying.
    • July is the time to control crabgrass and other grassy weeds in your lawn. The earlier you spray, the easier it is to kill.
    • Continue to dead-head perennials to keep them blooming longer in your garden. We also still have new plants coming in, making this a great time to fill in those holes in your garden.
